April 23, 2026
Come experience the joy of frame drumming with Caron Collins, Professor Emerita of The Crane School of Music. Frame drumming has a rich and ancient history, dating back to at least 2380 BCE in Mesopotamia.
In this engaging introductory workshop, Dr. Collins will lead you in a hands-on experience with the basic techniques of frame drumming and group music-making. You will have the
opportunity to play authentic Arabic instruments such as the Daff, Katim, Sagats, and a variety of Tars.
It’s easy to learn and fun to play the rhythmic patterns of Persian-style frame drumming. No previous musical experience is required.
