In a world of color, we invite you to use just one. Explore the complexities of tone and shade while creating a new work of art.

Guidelines:

All work must use one color. Tones and shade can vary.
NYS Sales Tax ID required for all artists selling work.
Artists may submit work that is unique to a typical exhibition, we will hang all of the work for sale and it will be on display the duration of the show.
SLC Arts will only accept completed works that accurately reflect the images submitted during the application process. All submissions will be hung as uploaded pictures depict. 
2D artwork must be framed with hanging wire – no sawtooth hangers. 
Only 2D artwork accepted. 
Artists are strongly encouraged to have their work for sale, but not required. Listed price should include a 30% or 40% commission for SLC Arts, dependent on Creative Partner Status (learn more at slcartscouncil.org/join)

SLC Arts is seeking individual (or a pair who work together/have cohesive work) artists who have a body of work to display. Please submit a sample of work and a description of your concept. Artists from all mediums are welcome to apply, but this space can only display 2D work. Please note that for this opportunity, each artist will be responsible for hanging their own work. Work must be put on display the day before the opening reception and removed the day after the last day on display.

Guidelines:

• Artists will hang and take down their own work.
• Artists must submit a sample of work.

• SLC Arts reserves the right to not include any individual piece from the show if it violates our terms or the terms of the Potsdam Town Hall. 
• Artists must submit pieces that are fully completed. 
• SLC Arts may choose to pair two similar artists together or split the timing of this exhibition into two separate exhibitions.

An Exhibition of Vision, Perspective & the Things We Choose to See
What catches your eye?

SLC Arts invites artists to participate in Focal Point, an exhibition celebrating the power of observation, perspective, and visual storytelling—with a special nod to the North Country Arts Festival and its iconic eyeball logo.

Artists are invited to incorporate eyeball and/or eye imagery into their work while exploring the many ways we see, perceive, observe, and experience the world around us. Eyes can be literal, surreal, abstract, humorous, unsettling, symbolic, or completely unexpected.

Whether you create a detailed portrait of an iris, a surreal composition filled with eyes, a pattern of watchful gazes, or something we haven’t imagined yet, we want to see it.
Eyes should be a recognizable element of submitted work for this exhibition.

All mediums and approaches are welcome.

TWO WAYS TO PARTICIPATE
1. Submit Your Own Work
Artists may submit artwork through our standard exhibition process and pay the regular exhibition fee.

Artists may submit up to 5 piece of work for consideration.
Artwork must be original, complete at the time of submission and delivered ready to hang or display and suitable for public exhibition. Work containing mature themes or language may be considered, but artists should clearly identify such content in their submission.

2. Be Part of the Collective Wall – “The Eyeball Project”
Want to help us create something together?
For $25 ($20 for Creative Partners), artists will receive a wooden eyeball cutout to transform, embellish, paint, alter, collage, or otherwise make their own.

These individual pieces will come together as a collective installation, creating a wall of eyes and perspectives from artists throughout the North Country.

Make us look twice.
Wooden eyeball pieces will be displayed as part of the Focal Point showcase and returned to the participating artists following the exhibition.
Artists are welcome to submit their own artwork through the regular exhibition process and participate in the collective eyeball wall.

SLC Arts is excited to announce the 2027 Creative Partner Showcase, an annual exhibition that highlights the incredible talent within our Creative Partnership community. This showcase features artwork exclusively from Creative Partners, celebrating the diversity, imagination, and creativity that make our region thrive.

Guidelines:

• All Creative Partners are entitled to one guaranteed piece of artwork in the show.
• SLC Arts reserves the right to not include any piece from the show if it violates our terms.
• There are no fees associated with this show, but artists must be a current Creative Partner for the duration of the show.
• Creative partners may submit up to five pieces of work. One piece is guaranteed to be included. 
• Artwork submitted must have been produced within the last three years. 

An Open Call for Art About Wealth, Power, Class & Excess
Who gets to have it all—and who gets left with the crumbs?
SLC Arts invites artists to submit work for Eat the Rich.
From gilded mansions to empty cupboards, luxury and labor, inheritance and debt, corporate power and collective action, this exhibition asks artists to consider the complicated—and sometimes absurd—relationship between money and society.
What does wealth look like? Who has access to it? Who creates it?
Who benefits from it? And what happens when there is simply too much of it?
We are interested in work that approaches these questions from any angle. Eat the Rich may be angry, humorous, satirical, celebratory, critical, absurd, personal, or entirely unexpected. Your work does not have to provide an answer—it just needs to give us something to chew on.

We welcome work exploring:

• Wealth and economic inequality
• Class identity and class mobility
• Labor, work, and exploitation
• Capitalism and consumer culture
• Luxury, excess, and extravagance
• Poverty, scarcity, and survival
• Inheritance, generational wealth, and debt
• Corporate power and political influence
• Housing, land ownership, and gentrification
• The value of art and the art market
• Food, consumption, and excess
• Status, privilege, and social hierarchy
• Taxation, redistribution, and collective resources
• The American Dream
• Personal experiences with money and class
• Humor, satire, parody, and protest

All mediums are welcome. We encourage artists to think beyond traditional approaches and consider painting, drawing, photography, sculpture, fiber, ceramics, printmaking, mixed media, installation, text-based work, digital work, and more.
