We are excited to announce that we’re celebrating America 250 in a county-wide traveling exhibition starting June 20th and culminating on August 30th. Each exhibition will include a one day exhibition as well as talks presented by the artist and a local historian. We welcome submissions in traditional revolutionary mediums. There are reduced submission fees, $6 for everyone.
Revolution in Ink is a county-wide humanities and arts initiative exploring how traditional art materials—posters, pamphlets, broadsides, and newspapers (and more)—shaped civic dialogue during America’s founding era. Presented by the St. Lawrence County Arts Council, the project brings together scholars, artists, and community experts to examine the power of print as a catalyst for revolutionary thought and public participation.
A series of four outdoor pop-up exhibitions will take place in Ogdensburg, Gouverneur, Waddington, and Massena, each highlighting a distinct historical theme, such as freedom of the press, women in revolutionary print culture, political cartoons and propaganda, and the spread of revolutionary ideas through local presses. Each event will include interpretive displays, scholar talks, and hands-on workshops where participants can experiment with art forms like printmaking techniques, cartoon creation, and modern day zine-making.
The program will culminate in ZineFest in Potsdam, a county-wide celebration featuring a community panel, artist tables, and opportunities for visitors to share their own printed creations and civic reflections.

The theme Macro invites artists and audiences to explore the world magnified. By enlarging what often goes unnoticed: the textures, details, and patterns of life. Macro asks us to pause and appreciate the hidden beauty within the small and the everyday. From the veins of a leaf to the intricate lines of a fingerprint, Macro highlights how shifting perspective can transform the ordinary into the extraordinary.

Beyond the Page: 2027 Creative Spirit Interactive Exhibition
We invite artists to explore the theme of Books—not only as objects, but as experiences, portals, and evolving stories. This exhibition requires interactive and participatory work. Artists are encouraged to create pieces that invite viewers to engage—through touch, movement, contribution, or transformation.
What happens when we ask ourselves—
– What happens when a book is no longer fixed?
– When a story changes with each reader?
– When the audience becomes the author?
Suggestions for submissions may include altered books, sculptural works, installations, participatory text-based pieces, sound, or multimedia experiences. The opportunities are nearly endless!
We are especially interested in work that:
– Invites audience interaction or collaboration
– Evolves over the course of the exhibition
– Challenges traditional ideas of authorship and narrative
– Explores books as objects, symbols, or systems
Let the page be a beginning—not a boundary.
