This exhibition challenges viewers to reconsider their perceptions of beauty, inviting reflection on the life cycles that shape our existence. “Rooted Wisdom: Navigating North Country Ecology”
James F. Montpelier Gallery at Ogdensburg Free Academy
SLC Arts invites artists aged 15+ to delve into the intricate relationship between the North Country’s diverse ecology and the wisdom that has been rooted in this region for generations. We are seeking submissions of both 2D and 3D artworks that reflect the rich interplay between nature and knowledge, celebrating the flora, fauna, and landscapes that define our environment. Artists are encouraged to draw from traditional ecological practices, highlighting the symbiotic connection between people and the land. Through their work, artists can illuminate how this deep-rooted wisdom guides our understanding of sustainability, resilience, and stewardship, emphasizing the critical role of preserving the natural world for the well-being of our communities and future generations.

Creative Partner Showcase
Creative Spirit Community Arts Center
We are excited to announce our 2025 Creative Partner Showcase! We welcome submissions from Creative Partners in all mediums. There is no jury fee. We will host an opening reception at the Creative Spirit Community Arts Center located at 6-8 Raymond Street in Potsdam on Thursday, September 11, 2025. Artists must be a Creative Partner to participate. Partnerships may be purchased at slcartscouncil.org/join.
Guidelines:
- Creative partners may submit up to five pieces of work. One piece is guaranteed to be included.
- Artwork submitted must have been produced within the last three years.
- 2D artwork must be framed with hanging wire – no sawtooth hangers.
- Artists are strongly urged to have their work for sale – listed price should include 70% for the artist and 30% commission for SLC Arts. NYS Sales Tax ID required for all artists selling work.

“Harvest” at the Potsdam Town Hall Gallery
This exhibition invites artists to capture the unique beauty of the North Country region. From the river valleys of the St. Lawrence to the highest peaks of the Adirondacks, this exhibition seeks to explore the diverse landscapes that define the area we call home.
Guidelines:
- Artists may submit up to three pieces of work.
- 2D artwork must be framed with hanging wire – no sawtooth hangers.
- Artists are strongly encouraged to have their work for sale, but not required. Listed price should include a 30% or 40% commission for SLC Arts, dependent on Creative Partner Status (learn more at slcartscouncil.org/join)
- NYS Sales Tax ID required for all artists selling work.

Holiday Market
We invite artists to submit their 2D and 3D artworks for our “Holiday Market,” a festive exhibition dedicated to celebrating the spirit of gift-giving. This unique market will feature a rotating display of original works, allowing pieces to be sold directly off the walls and shelves throughout the season.
Whether it’s paintings, prints, or other unique items, we’re looking for creations that capture the joy and warmth of the holidays. Join us in spreading cheer and making art accessible as perfect gifts for friends and family. We can’t wait to see your festive creations!
