Accessible Arts Program

Accessible Arts provides an opportunity for music and arts exploration in a supportive and therapeutic group environment. Group members are encouraged to participate in a variety of activities including singing, movement, dancing, playing instruments, creating, painting, and other arts exploration designed to stimulate the senses, encourage creativity and increase socialization. Music and art therapy programs have a long track record for success in building communication skills, increasing confidence, and improving overall well-being among participants.

Schedule:

Virtual Craft Class: Mondays at 11 am via Zoom

Music & Art Class: Tuesdays from 10:30 am – 12 pm at the Creative Spirit Community Arts Center (6-8 Raymond Street in Potsdam)

Kids Music & Art Class: Tuesdays from 3:30 pm – 4:30 pm at the Creative Spirit Community Arts Center (6-8 Raymond Street in Potsdam)

Virtual Music Class: Wednesdays at 11 am via Zoom

Teen/Young Adult Music & Art Class: Wednesdays from 4 pm – 5:30 pm at the Creative Spirit Community Arts Center (6-8 Raymond Street in Potsdam)

Meet our Instructors:

Tracy Wanamaker, MT-BC

Tracy is an Adjunct Instructor at the Crane School of Music where she coordinates the Music in Special Education Program and Crane Music Education Field Experience. Wanamaker is a board-certified music therapist with 20 years of experience working in a wide range of clinical areas including special education, adults with developmental disabilities and gerontology settings.  Wanamaker is active as a consultant and clinician for professionals, teachers and parents across the United States, and has presented her research at many local, state, and national conferences including the American Music Therapy Association National Conference and the Mid-Atlantic AMTA Regional Conference.

Lizzy Davis, MT-BC

Lizzy is a board-certified music therapist with a passion for supporting children and young adults through music. She earned her degree in Music Therapy from SUNY Fredonia and completed her clinical internship at Piedmont Music Therapy in Charlotte, NC. Lizzy has experience working in school and home-based settings in Buffalo, NY, where she has supported children and young adults with disabilities, using music to enhance learning, communication, and emotional growth.
