Anna Warfield
BIO:
Anna Warfield (they/she, b. 1995) is based in Binghamton, New York. Her predominantly text-based fiber works engage with the body, unlearning, communication, and identity.
STATEMENT:
My work is queer.
It’s both straightforward and unclear.
It’s a processing of identities – many of them.
It’s about how we communicate; the words we use and don’t use.
It’s about unlearning what we’ve been socialized to understand and expect.
It’s nonsensical sense.
It’s the space in between definitions.
Gallery Opening Event: Thursday, January 15, at 5:00 pm
Last day to view: Saturday, March 7th
Gallery Location: Creative Spirit Community Arts Center
6-8 Raymond St Potsdam NY 13676

We’re seeking self-portraits with a twist.
This exhibition invites artists of all ages and backgrounds to explore the concept of identity through interactive self-portraiture—art that goes beyond the surface and asks the viewer to engage. Think beyond traditional portraiture: incorporate elements that invite touch, movement, reflection, audience response, or multi-sensory experience. Your portrait could include written components, flaps, QR codes, mirrors, movable parts, layered materials—anything that encourages interaction and invites deeper discovery of self.
Whether literal or abstract, 2D or 3D, digital or handmade—your interpretation of a “self-portrait” is welcome. Let’s reimagine what it means to see ourselves and be seen.
