Organizational Statement of Values

As an organization, we value our community and will work in partnership with other organizations, businesses, municipalities, and artists in the North Country. We understand the arts have the potential to make an economic impact on our region and add to the vibrancy of the North Country. Artists can and should participate in placemaking opportunities to contribute to the culture of our region. Art enhances the way we see the world, the way we feel, the way we connect to others, and the way we live our lives. As an organization, we strive to work collaboratively to ensure this region thrives.

We believe access to art and the ability to creatively express oneself is fundamental to the human spirit. Therefore, we believe that all people should have fair and equitable access to the tools and resources to realize their creative and community endeavors. We believe all people should have fair access to opportunities to explore, consume, and appreciate art and artistic expression. We know structural inequities exist and we strive to counter and dismantle those inequities.

As an organization, we value integrity and will work to ensure we operate with transparency, efficiency, effectiveness, and with clarity of our purposes and processes. We will support artists and the art they create while operating with integrity.

We value artistic entrepreneurs. We strive to support artists and creatives in developing their businesses. We view artists as leaders and we will work to center artists as leaders in their own entrepreneurial endeavors and within our community. We will promote and support professionalism in our artistic community.

We value exploration. We will support and promote the exploration of art, both as creators and consumers. We will provide opportunities for people to try new things, develop skills, and be exposed to art in a wide range of forms. We strive to cultivate curiosity.
