Amanda Noftsier – “Missing”
8×10 inches, framed, Oil on Aluminum
My experience of the pandemic was similar to many others. Loneliness, fear, anxiety, grief, and comfort seeking. This still life started when I realized it would be a long time before I could see my family. I pulled out old postcards, summer stamps and my SEPTA tickets that I wouldn’t use and on top of all that used an old dollar bill that had been ripped apart and taped back together that really forced me to acknowledge what was going on in the United States. “Hamilton” the Broadway musical came out and enriched my life and although it would have been easy to over indulge in alcohol I focused on the change in our world happening right now. This still life tries to capture the tumultuous times.
