Dr. Cindi Mondesir was born in the US but immigrated back to Haiti as a child to live with her grandmother. After 5 years she came back to the US to live with her mother. She attended Brooklyn Tech, one of the best high schools in the country, Hamilton College for her undergrad, and attended medical school at Ohio State University.
She underwent her residencies at Maria Fareri Children’s Hospital, New York Medical College at Westchester Medical Center, Valhalia, NY; and Our Lady of Mercy Medical Center, Bronx, NY. In Canada, she completed an additional fourth year residency at the University of Alberta Stollery Children’s Hospital, Edmonton, Alberta. Dr. Mondesir found a job in Bethel, Alaska, where she worked for 12 years before coming home to New York State.
Dr. Mondesir is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics, and a Fellow of The Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. She is board certified in Pediatrics by both the American Board of Pediatrics, and The Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. She is also a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics, and the Canadian Pediatric Society.
When interviewing for Canton-Potsdam Hospital, she immediately felt that Canton-Potsdam Hospital was a place where she could become part of a team dedicated to serving the North Country community, as well as a place to call home.
As a pediatrician, Dr. Mondesir noted she recognizes what a privilege it is for her to have parents entrust their child’s care with her, as they are what is most valuable to them. She pointed out her goal is to become a trusted source for her patients, their families, and her colleagues.
Dr. Mondesir is a member of the Potsdam Interfaith Council, a board Member of North Country Children’s Museum, and sings in the choir at St. Mary’s Church in Potsdam.
