Art Cafe with Kathy Stein
March 18 @ 5:30 pm - 6:30 pmFREE
Kathleen Stein is currently an adjunct instructor at St. Lawrence University, where she teaches courses in art, art history, and art and nature. Kathy also serves as the president of the League of Women Voters of St. Lawrence County. This talk hopes to address the question: “Why are there no great female artists?” Kathy will focus on a few “great female artists”, some prominent, like Mary Cassat and Georgia O’Keefe, as well as some lesser-known, like the group, the Guerilla Girls, and Judy Chicago. We will discuss women as artists themselves, and women as the subject of art. In celebration of 2020 being the 100th anniversary of the ratification of the 19th Amendment, Kathy also plans to tie in her personal connection to the suffragette movement, and the League of Female Voters.
