SLC Arts invites the community to join us for various workshops and classes, taught by local artisans and performers. The classes will be held in our new building, the Creative Spirit Community Arts Center, at 6 Raymond St. in Potsdam.

May Classes:

Pottery Story Planters with Andrew Norrell

Saturday, May 28th at 1pm; $50/Person

Participants will receive a wet clay planter to sculpt, carve, and paint stories and/or elements that express connection, memories, and strong relationships. We’ll explore unique ways to alter forms and build imagery. All tools and materials will be provided. Planters will be fired as stoneware and available for pickup within 4 weeks.

June Classes:

Acrylic Poured Fire Torched Rainbows with Kris Rozelle

Saturday, June 11th at 11 am; $40/Canvas

Families are invited to come get your Acrylic Pour on with Artist Kris Rozelle with Kris A Lis Designs & Phoenix Rising Art! Kris will demonstrate a few techniques and participants will choose one or more techniques and let the paints show the way.  All materials provided. Each participant will get a 12X12″ canvas, paints and all materials required to create one pour painting in class and set it ablaze. Come dressed for the mess! $40 per canvas. 

Professional Headshots with Jennifer McCluskey

Tuesday, June 14th, 3 – 6 pm; $50/person

Professionals in any field, but especially creative business owners, need their photographs taken for promotions. It’s not easy, and often very expensive to get your headshots taken, so we’re simplifying that process! Sign up for your headshot, let us know what time you can come in and we will schedule a 15 minute photo session with professional photographer Jennifer McCluskey of McCluskey Photography Studio!  

Watermelon & Rainbows Summer Soap Making with Tara Jenne

Saturday, June 18th, 11 am; $30/person

Join Tara Jenne, owner of Cabin Soaps, for a fun soap making class to get your bathrooms ready for the summer! Participants will create 2 bars of each:  

-Watermelon Slices scented w/fresh watermelon
-RainbowBars w/shea butter nugget embeds w/scent choices (+ new micas are on the way to jazz these up)
-Massage Bar w/mesh pouf loofah embed and choice of scent and decorative wrapping available.  

 Participants will leave with 6 bars of soap (8 if watermelon bars are sliced).
