December Classes

Bath Bomb Workshop

Thursday & Friday December 8 & 9, 5-7 pm

Join Certified Aromatherapist and Scent Artist Kathy Wilcox for two days of bath bomb fun!  On day one, we will be learning about essential oils that are soothing to both the skin and the senses, aromatherapy safety with bath products, and mixing & molding our bombs. On day two, we will be removing our bombs from the molds, painting them, and packaging them to take home.  This class includes instructional materials so you will be able to make your own bath bombs at home as well as ingredients needed to make approximately 3-4 bath bombs.

Needle Felting Friends

Sunday December 11, 1-4 pm

Let’s get together and make some wooly friends to keep us company this winter! In this workshop, you will learn the basics of needle felting by making cute 3D figures –– animals, people, anthropomorphic vegetables –– if you can imagine it, you can make it with needle felting! No experience is necessary, and all materials will be provided. This is an easy and fun workshop that will let your creativity go wild.

Accessibility information: Needle felting requires fine motor skills using sharp objects. Participants who are sensitive to wool are advised to wear gloves. The work is not strenuous but does involve repetitive motions, and it can be done seated or standing.

About the instructor: Tilly Lind is a folklorist and fiber artist who loves working with wool. She has recently settled in Canton as the program director for TAUNY.

Barn Quilt Painting

Saturday December 17, 10-3 pm

This Barn Quilt painting class takes you from a blank (pre-primed) board to a finished Barn Quilt ready to hang and enjoy! Participants will be provided with a 2′ x 2′, primed piece of wood, outdoor paint color options, paint brushes, painters tape, and the option to have their quilt pre-drilled to install at home.

We will begin the class by customizing the participants’ designs. There will be several customizable design options to choose from or you may wish to come prepared with a design of your own.  Participants will use rulers to map out their designs on the board, then segment different colors with painter’s tape and begin painting.  Each coat requires some dry time before you can begin to tape off the next section.  When completed, we will seal the entire piece with a water-based finish to further protect it and (if desired) pre-drill the quilt for installation at home.
