My ceramic work is multi-dimensional. I make functional pottery that is ovenproof stoneware with high-fire glazes meant to make them smooth and easy to care for. I like simple but attractive designs that allow for years of pleasurable use. My narrative pieces, clay pictures cut out of one slab, reflect on my life in DeKalb, NY with my husband Jeff. Life on the farm gives me daily contact with nature and its creatures that I like to capture from significant moments. I like to look down into things and imagine the experience of the animals around me. I love bringing the spirit of such singular moments into a lasting form that inspires the heart and pleases the eyes. By capturing a moment or the essence of a form, I hope to affirm life and continue to wonder about its meaning.
