Join music therapist, Tracy Wanamaker, MT-BC for fun-filled hours of music and arts exploration.  This group provides an opportunity for middle schoolers and teens with special needs including cognitive disabilities, autism and severe learning disabilities, to participate in a supportive and therapeutic group activity. Group members will be encouraged to participate in a variety of activities including singing, movement, dancing, playing instruments, creating, painting, and other arts exploration designed to stimulate the senses, encourage creativity and increase socialization.

Clay Bunnies!    with Sara Lynch
Saturday, May 25, 3:00-5:30pm
All ages welcome; children under 7 need an adult to stay and help them. Students will learn two different ways to form rabbits out of clay. First they will do a warm up slab project and then a solid sculpture. Both are tons of fun and help teach the basic skills required to work with clay. Students are welcome to bring any pictures of rabbits they like for inspiration; supplies included!

Charcoal Drawing    with Isack Azaev
Thursdays,  May 30 & June 6, 6:00-7:30pm
Ages 18 & up. Beginning and intermediate level students will learn charcoal drawing techniques and focus on composition and design, perspective, and details and variation in tone. After attending these classes, students will have the skills to complete still life charcoal drawings independently. Paper Marbling    with Virginia Burnett
Saturday, June 1, 10:00-11:00am
Teens & Adults. Messy fun with floating color! Burnett will teach the basics of paper marbling, and students will go home with a collection of their own handmarbled papers as well as recipes & resources to make more at home. The finished papers can be used to make notecards, mini-books, bookmarks, or scrapbooking projects. Materials provided.

Intro to Acting    with Rich Tenace
Wednesday, June 5th, 6:30-8:00pm
Teens-Adults. Learn the basics of character development and how to place that character into scenes. Expand your funny bone by delving into improvisational acting skills through improv games. Rich Tenace is a graduate of The Players Workshop from The Second City in Chicago, a school which specializes in sketch comedy and improvisation.

Wheel Thrown Pottery
   with Isaac Snell

Wednesdays, June 19, 26, July 3, 6:00-9:00pm
Ages 14-Adults. Snell will guide students through all the basic skills needed for wheel throwing including clay preparation, proper wedging techniques, centering clay on the wheel, throwing outer and inner walls of a vessel, and trimming and glazing. By the end of these classes, students will complete their own vessel to take home. Visit facebook.com/IsaacJudePottery for examples of Snell's pottery. No experience necessary, students should be beginners or intermediate students with fewer than 20 hours of experience. Materials included.

Drawing Skills for Ages 10-15    with Claire Alai
Sundays, June 23 & 30, July 7 & 14, 12:30-2:00pm
Ages 10-15. Improve your line work, form, and composition styles through practice in still life, portraits, and abstraction. Expand your drawing skills and explore different drawing styles as tools for self-expression. *Registration deadline: Saturday, June 8.

Ink Works for Ages 10-15    with Claire Alai
Sundays, June 23 & 30, July 7 & 14, 12:30-2:00pm
Ages 10-15. We'll work on different projects which depart from traditional ink forms and explore forms of abstraction, focusing on creativity with line work. In later classes we'll focus on individualized projects. *Registration deadline: Saturday, June 8.

Alla Prima Painting    with Isack Azaev
Thursday, July 18, 6:00-8:00pm
Ages 18 & up. Beginning and intermediate level students will learn wet-on-wet oil painting on canvas, and will focus on composition and design, and details and variations in colors. After attending these classes, students will have the skills to complete alla prima still life oil paintings independently. Earth Works    with Claire Alai

Bitty Books    with Virginia Burnett
Saturday, July 27, 10:00-11:00am
Ages 8-12. Use paper folding techniques to create a tiny pocket-sized book which opens out into a flat sheet of paper. After you learn the Turkish Map folding technique, you can attach several books together to create a larger form.

Teddy Bear Camp    with Ellen MacMaster
Monday-Friday, July 29-August 2, 10:00am-12:00pm
Ages 10 and up. Sew your own teddy bear from start to finish over the course of the week! Each student will start by picking out the material, layout and cut their bear, then they will learn to sew with a sewing machine, embroider on eyes and nose, stuff and finally do a finish stitch to close up the bear. The sewing skills they learn can be applied to other future projects. Visit www.embears.com for examples of Ellen's work. Silk Painting    with Virginia Burnett
Saturday, August 10, 10:00-11:00am
Ages 8-12. Paint a silk rectangle (6"x24") for a wall banner or a scarf in your favorite colors and designs. If you finish your scarf painting early, you'll have time to create a bonus project while your scarf dries--an anklet with tribal bells and sparkly beads perfect for dancing feet.

A Personalized Etsy Shop Make-over
   with Hilary Emerson Lay
Over this 6-week course, artists & craftspeople will be given a thorough run-down of all the ins & outs of Etsy.  Students will then have the opportunity to start, transform, tweak, and perfect their own Etsy shops through both weekly 'homework' assignments and constructive peer and teacher feedback. Suitable for those who have always wanted to start their own Etsy shop, right through those who have a shop set up but would like to increase their sales.
