Kundalini Yoga

Kundalini Yoga consists of simple yogic techniques that can be enjoyed by everyone, no matter what age or physical ability.  It is a complete science that includes breath, yoga postures, sound, chanting and meditation.  This is a wonderful, guided yoga practice that students follow at their own pace.   
$66.00 for 6 classes, $120.00 for 12 classes, or $180.00 for 18 classes
Students should wear comfortable clothes and bring a yoga mat, small towel, a light blanket or shawl, a bottle of water and a yoga cushion if you have one

This class is designed for the beginner Belly Dancer. It is also a great class for those who would like a review of the basics. We will break down a group of movements each class, then put them into several short combination at the end of class.

  Level 2 Belly Dance

This class is for those who are comfortable with the basics of Belly Dance and want to take it to the next level. We will move at a faster pace. Zills (finger cymbals) will also start to be integrated.

  Enhancing Your Intuition

Thursdays, September 9, 16, 23, 30 and October 7 & 14

This 6-week class series will develop your intuition by studying how you can interpret symbols: tarot, palmistry, and numbers. You’ll participate in fun, hands-on exercises to develop your psychic abilities as you explore precognition, ESP, and psychometry (also known as token-object reading). The teacher is a professional psychic reader and entertainer with over 20 years experience.

The perfect class for the tiny dancer in your life!  Students will learn the basic building blocks of ballet as they play, sing and learn a dance combination.  Students must be potty trained and able to follow instructions.  Dancers must wear real canvas or leather ballet shoes, satin slippers can be very dangerous on the dance floor.  Parents will be asked to wait in the Reading Room across the hall.
$90.00 for 14 weeks

  Musical Theatre Dance for Teens and Adults

Thursdays, September 9 - December 16

Musical Theatre Dance classes focus on the basics of theatre dance in a fun and creative atmosphere! Students will increase their understanding of movement for the stage, how dance tells a story and important fundamental theatre techniques for dance. Students will work on a dance routine set to Broadway music using the techniques learned in class at a level that is appropriate for members of the class.
$140.00 for 14 weeks
Students should wear jazz dance shoes, leotard and tights or dance pants and wear their hair tied back.

  Ballet for Ages 6-10

Students will learn the basic building blocks of ballet in a fun atmosphere.  Class begins with barre work and a floor warmup followed by learning ballet combinations throughout the season.  This class is appropriate for beginning dancers and those with some prior dance experience.
$112.00 for 14 weeks
Students should wear leotard and tights and real leather or canvas ballet shoes.  Hair should be worn pulled back. Satin slippers are dangerous on the dance floor!

Tap classes begin with a short warm up and a new dance combination each week.  This is a beginner level class but students with prior experience are welcome to join.

Come and enhance your creative intuition with a talented watercolorist.  Roberta's paintings are filled with light, color and emotion.  In each class, she will guide students in a creative meditation exercise and then lead them in an exploration of watercolor techniques as they create a painting.  Adult students (18 and up) of all levels of experience are welcome to attend. This class will focus on painting landscapes; her October 9th class will focus on painting florals.

Yoga for Your Health: Part 1

Taught in the Kripalu Yoga style, this class is excellent for those who are new to yoga, those who have practiced in the past and want to get back to yoga and anyone who prefer a gentle, meditative type of class. The class will focus on breathing deeply, releasing tension, building strength and balance, posture alignment, with modifications as needed, and meditation. In Yoga for Your Health, students are encouraged to work at their own pace, to embrace their experience in the moment, and to accept their bodies as they are. Each class includes an opening centering meditation, stretches, yoga postures, pranayama (breath-work), chanting, and deep relaxation. Anyone under the care of a health provider is encouraged to discuss beginning a yoga practice.

This is a beginning magic class where youngsters will learn basic tricks with ropes, cards, coins, and sponge balls. They’ll learn showmanship, acting, and magic as well as how to build their confidence and use their creative muscles. Mr. Tenace is a professional magician with over 30 years experience, and he’ll teach each student how to perform amazing tricks. Future classes in this series are every third Monday night.

  Crash Course in Capoeira Part 1

What is Capoeira?  Is it a dance? A fight? A game?  What was the original purpose of it?  How does it work?  Who can play?  Join us for this one day comprehensive introduction to the rich art and tradition of Capoeira, an Afro-Brazilian ritual “dance/fight/game”, in which we will explore the basic symbolic structure of the game through metaphors communicated in movement, rhythm, and song. This is a three-part lecture and participatory workshop (with a break for lunch).  Be prepared to: move in bare feet, do things you never thought you would, and delight in a sense of community all while discovering the power of play through the game of capoeira.  All levels of fitness are welcome!

Rooted in the Buddhist style of Vipassana, this class teaches fundamental techniques for sharpening your awareness and releasing painful mental habits no matter what your religious or spiritual orientation. This class delves into Mettā meditation, exploring the quality of lovingkindness - a caring for others independent of all self-interest – including the traits of friendship, non-violence, patience, receptivity, appreciation, generosity, and kindness. In the spirit of gratitude and generosity embodied by this class, the fees for this class are donations which support the SLC Arts Council and its mission to improve the cultural lives of our community.
*Suggested Donation: $30-$60 for 4 classes
Students may wish to bring a cushion or yoga mat for seating.

Weave your own enchantment at our second annual autumn beading party for the arts!  Bring a project of your own or browse goodies from Goblins' Market and other artists' special bead stashes. This will be a fun and relaxing evening with several volunteer experts on hand. 100% of the participation fee goes to support the Arts Council's classroom space.
Participation Fee: $15
Materials: Bring your own materials or purchase some from the beading artists at the party. Bring jewelry tools and an already started project you need help with if you have one.
