Multi-Arts Center
We are working to develop a multi-arts center through a substantial RESTORE NY grant!

Take our survey!

Damon Hall
Damon Hall on Clarkson Campus:
The future location of the Multi-Arts Center!

We envision a center that provides affordable access to fully-equipped art studios, rehearsal rooms, and performance spaces. We want to create a place where people of all ages and abilities - from infants to seniors - can engage in the arts and share an array of cultural activities. The center will also serve as an incubator to foster arts businesses and organizations. A multi-arts center would attract new residents, encourage economic growth, and increase tourism for our region. Arts centers exist in rural towns across the country, where they play an active role in community revitalization.
We need your help to make this exciting opportunity a reality!

The St. Lawrence County Arts Council is currently working to develop a multi-arts center through a substantial RESTORE NY grant - a state program. We are working in partnership with Clarkson University to create an arts center in Damon Hall, on Main Street in Potsdam.

We would appreciate your help in the form of a letter of support for this project from your perspective - as a professional in your field, a student, a teacher, an artist, a parent, a resident or visitor, a local business owner, a legislator or a tax-payer, or any combination of these. Your letter does not need to be long.

It should be on letterhead, if appropriate, and should include the date, your full name and your address.

Please address it to "To Whom It May Concern", and include your signature in the closing.

Here are just a few of the services an arts center could provide:
·  Classes in visual arts, hand crafts, music, dance, theatre, and writing.
·  Studios for individual artists & groups to create artwork, rehearse, hold meetings
·  Space for arts events, exhibits, and performances
·  Professional development training and services for artists, businesses and organizations.
·   How could this center serve you, your family, your clients or constituents, your business or organization?
·   How would an arts center benefit Northern New York? What needs would it help to address?
·   What types of facilities or services would you take advantage of?
·   How would you support this center? (i.e. pledge financial support, offer in-kind donations, purchase tickets for events, rent space for short-term or long-term use, pay for studio time, take classes, purchase work from the gallery)

Thank you in advance for taking the time to help us with this project! Watch for more details as this exciting project develops. Please feel free to contact me should you need more information: (315) 265-6860.

Please send your letter to the
SLC Arts Council - 51 Market Street, Potsdam, NY 13676.
