POGA: An Evening of Yoga and Painting with Cheryl Mirer & Amanda Stopa-CANCELLED

Treat yourself and join us for a relaxing evening that combines a yoga session and painting class suitable for everyone; no experience necessary. To begin the class, Amanda Stopa, a certified yoga teacher, will lead a gentle, all-levels yoga session designed to awaken your creativity, followed by a brief breathing and meditation exercise to prepare students for an evening of relaxation, painting and fun. Then artist Cheryl Mirer will guide a simple painting project that combines the enjoyment of a party with the challenge of a class. Participants will work at individual stations to create a masterpiece suitable for framing. Conversation and laughter encouraged. Participants should bring a yoga mat or substitute; dress in loose, comfortable clothing; and bring a water bottle. A change of clothes or apron is recommended for the painting portion. Cheryl Mirer: Cheryl, of Cheryl Mirer Art & Design, grew up in Burlington, CT and earned a Bachelor of Art in Fine Art and Art History in 1995 at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. A variety of interesting career choices ranging from teaching art in the Peace Corps, designing kitchens, managing a small library, working in development at a small college, and always, developing her own art, brought Cheryl to Boston University to earn her Master of Science in Arts Administration in 2005. She and her husband, Eric, relocated to Potsdam in 2012 from Western Massachusetts, via a short stint in South Carolina, where Cheryl was the Director of an Artists-in-Residence Program. She now works at Clarkson University. Cheryl is a working artist in printmaking, painting, mixed media and African beaded jewelry. You can see her work at www.facebook.com/
Amanda Stopa: Originally from the Seattle area, Amanda Stopa practiced yoga for 5 years before beginning her Yoga Teacher Training in 2014. She is now a Certified Yoga Instructor that specializes in Hatha, Vinyasa & Yin yoga. Learn more about her practice at www.facebook.com/
